Union County, FL (November 23, 2019) - A man from Lake Butler died in a crash in Union County on Friday, November 22nd. The crash occurred around 11:37 p.m. near the intersection of County Road 18 and Southwest 78th Place.
According to reports from the Florida Highway Patrol, 25-year-old Natalie Smith was driving a 2007 Honda Accord westbound on CR 18. For unknown reasons, Smith ran off the roadway. A passenger in Smith's vehicle, identified only as a 26-year-old male, was killed in the crash. There is no word on whether Smith was hurt in the accident. No other vehicles were involved.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing at this time.
We are saddened to hear of this tragic crash in Union County. Several crashes take place in Florida every day that claim the lives of motorists. Police will continue to investigate this crash in an effort to determine what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway.
