Valrico, FL (April 4, 2021) - A driver is dead and a bicyclist is injured following a crash in Valrico on Saturday, April 3rd. The crash took place around 5:30 p.m. on Natures Way Boulevard near the intersection with Golf Meadow Boulevard and the Bloomingdale Golfers Club.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, a Kia Stinger was traveling southbound on Natures Way at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control of his vehicle. The Kia then veered off the roadway before striking a tree and then a bicycle. The driver of the Kia died at the crash scene. The bicyclist sustained critical injuries and was airlifted to Tampa General Hospital for treatment. Neither the bicyclist nor the SUV driver were immediately identified.
Police are still investigating the collision at this time. It is believed that speedy played a role in the collision. Officials are awaiting toxicology test results for the Kia driver to determine if impairment played a role
