Volusia County, FL (August 27, 2021) - A man died in a dirt bike accident in Volusia County on Thursday, August 26th. The crash happened around 8:00 p.m. on Blue Springs Avenue.
The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the accident scene. According to a report from troopers, a 30-year-old man from Orange City was traveling eastbound on a dirt bike. At the same time, a Jeep was traveling westbound. The Jeep made a left turn into the path of the bike, causing the two vehicles to collide. The dirt biker rider was ejected and died at the scene. The Jeep driver sustained only minor injuries. Neither of the victims have been identified.
The crash is under investigation at this time. There is no further information available.
In 2019, more than 3,000 people were killed in Florida traffic accidents. Dirt bikes and motorcycles are among the most dangerous forms of transportation and riders are extremely vulnerable to being injured or killed in a crash. Often, these serious and fatal accidents are caused by negligent drivers.
