Volusia County, FL (June 4, 2021) - A man from DeBary and a 13-year-old girl from Casselberry were killed in a crash involving two vehicles in Volusia County on Friday. The accident took place around 1:25 a.m. on State Road 472 near County Road 4101 south of DeLand.
According to reports from the Florida Highway Patrol, a 44-year-old man was operating a 2020 Ford pickup truck eastbound on S.R. 472 when he failed to slow down and slammed into the back of a 2018 Toyota Rav4. The crash caused the Toyota to overturn. The truck veered off the roadway and struck a tree before catching fire. The driver of the truck and a passenger in the RAV4 died at the scene. Four others in the RAV4 sustained minor injuries. The identities of those involved have not been released.
The crash resulted in the closure of S.R. 472. Firefighters with Volusia County and DeLand responded to the scene. There is no further information available at this time.
Fatal car accidents in Florida are extremely devastating for loved ones who experience them.
