Volusia County, FL (September 27, 2020) - Police were on the scene of a fatal crash in Volusia County on Saturday, September 26th. The crash took place in the northbound lanes of I-95 around 1:00 a.m.
According to officials, two 20-year-old men were traveling in a vehicle when the car suddenly left the roadway and veered onto the shoulder. While on the shoulder, the vehicle overturned and collided with a tree. When rescue crews arrived they pronounced both men dead at the scene as a result of their injuries. Neither of the victims has been identified at this time. There is no word on what caused the accident to occur.
An investigation remains ongoing at this time. No additional details are available.
In 2019, more than 3,000 people tragically lost their lives due to Florida car accidents. This number has remained steady or increased over each of the past several years. As the population of our state continues to grow, drivers will be at even more risk in the future as roadways become more crowded, and more negligent drivers are present.
