A Florida woman lost her life in a serious accident that took place in a supermarket this week. Unfortunately, many people are seriously injured and die in accidents due to slip and falls each year.
The woman, identified as 57-year-old Jacqueline Albertine of Miami Beach, died around 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Merchandise Mart. She struck her head when she fell on their floor. She was immediately taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, as she sustained severe injuries in the accident.
On Wednesday, the autopsy from the Medical Examiner’s Office found that she passed away due to blunt force head trauma. Her death has since been ruled an accident.
Unintentional falls lead to serious accidents that cause injuries and fatalities every year. In 2013, falls resulted in 556,000 deaths alone across the U.S. They are one of the most common reasons why people visit emergency rooms every year.
