Zephyrhills, FL (March 30, 2021) - A 79-year-old driver was killed in a head-on crash that took place in Zephyrhills on Tuesday morning. The incident occurred around 11:15 a.m. on Elland Boulevard near the intersection with Fountain Road.
According to a report, a 65-year-old woman from Wesley Chapel was driving an SUV eastbound on Elland. At the same time, a 79-year-old man from Jamestown, Va. was traveling westbound on Elland. For unknown reasons, the 65-year-old Wesley Chapel woman crossed the centerline and collided head-on with the 79-year-old's car. The man died in the accident while the woman sustained serious injuries. Neither driver has been identified at this time.
The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the accident and there is no word on potential charges.
