Zephyrhills, FL (November 24, 2019) - A 29-year-old man from Land O'Lakes was killed in a motorcycle crash on US 301 in Zephyrhills. The crash happened around 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 23rd.
According to reports, David Walter Engberg was riding a Yamaha YZF-R1 Supersport motorcycle northbound on 301 when his bike was cut off by a Chevrolet Sonic that was attempting to make a turn onto Daughtry Road. The driver of the Sonic, 73-year-old Shirley Ann Brooks, failed to yield to Engberg and the two vehicles collided with one another. Engberg died as a result of the crash while Brooks sustained minor injuries and was treated at Advent Health Zephyrhills.
The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating at this time and charges are pending against Brooks.
