Written by Myya Passmore of Rubenstein Law The Family Christian Association of America (FCAA) celebrated its 33rd Annual Black Achievers of Excellence Luncheon on February 15, 2017, at the Don Shula Hotel located in Miami Lakes, Florida. The program encourages private and public involvement of black history month celebration by creating a public forum honoring African American corporate executives who will pave the way and serve as a role model for the youth. This year, Rubenstein Law participated as a Silver Sponsor and submitted attorney DeWayne Terry as an achiever for his direct impact and commitment to the community and Rubenstein Law. The objective of the program is to motivate and encourage youth to develop and pursue educational and career goals, showcase and recognize minority role models and achievers, and help generate financial resources for scholarships and support of youth development programs with The Family Christian Association of America, Inc. Prior to the start of the luncheon, award recipients participated in the Meet and Greet Reception with high school students and provided students with one-on-one mentoring to encourage them to stay focus and to personalize their individual stories of success and triumph within their professional careers. At the conclusion of the reception, students volunteered one-by-one, to voice their gratitude to each of the award recipients. Students were able to personalize and reflect on what they learned and thank the Black Achievers individually for taking time out of their work schedules to motivate them to keep pushing forward toward their own success stories.
