Raul E. Garcia Jr.

Partner/Senior Litigator

About Me

I was born in Havana, Cuba and raised in Belle Glade, FL. I graduated from the University of South Florida, where I received a bachelor’s degree in criminology in 1987. I then completed my law degree in 2 ½ years at St. Thomas University. My first job out of law school was at the large downtown firm of Blackwell & Walker P.A., as a litigation attorney handling a wide range of matters in the areas of medical malpractice, life insurance defense, commercial litigation, general insurance defense and eminent domain. In 1993, I opened my own practice representing individuals in cases involving medical malpractice, wrongful death, serious personal injury, negligent security, and product liability. I have been fortunate to have cases featured in local and national publications. My medical malpractice cases have included delay/misdiagnosis of cancer, wrongful amputation, misdiagnosis of stroke, complications during pregnancy and delivery, audiology malpractice, ophthalmology malpractice and plastic surgery malpractice.

In 2014, I joined Rubenstein Law as a litigation attorney, and now I am a partner and senior litigator, trying cases in Florida and other jurisdictions, and mentoring the firm’s younger litigators. I have tried over 100 cases to verdict, and my cases have gone all the way up to the United States Supreme Court. In 2016, I obtained the highest medical malpractice verdict in the State of Florida ($7.7M) and in 2018 I obtained the second highest slip and fall verdict in the state ($4.9M). My proudest achievement also came in 2018, when I delivered closing arguments 19 days apart in two cases that each resulted in verdicts over a million dollars. Most recently in 2022, after a two week-long trial against two corporate defendants, I obtained a $20M verdict for a young man who suffered a severe leg injury. The verdict was the ninth largest premises liability verdict in the United States. I have also handled multi-million-dollar arbitrations before the American Arbitration Association and the American Health Lawyer’s Association. In my spare time I enjoy reading, playing golf, and watching sports. My wife and I enjoy traveling and spending time with our adult children.
